A smiling woman with long, wavy blonde hair wearing a blue-gray button-up top and a necklace, standing indoors.

My passion for mindful movement began as a pre-professional dancer, where I was first introduced to Pilates. Pilates did wonders for my injury prevention and rehabilitation throughout college at Loyola Marymount University, and as a professional dancer. After college, I continued my education to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. However, I took some time off to travel and immerse myself in different cultures, which is when I fell in love with our beautiful East Cape of Baja, and knew I was home.

I completed my comprehensive Pilates training through Body Arts and Science International (BASI) with a dance specialization, under the guidance of Karen Clippinger. I consider myself a ‘forever student’! I am certified to work with individuals post breast cancer treatments/surgeries, and have completed courses for proper scoliosis care along with other spinal conditions. As a professional athlete myself, training other athletes of all ages and specialties is highly rewarding, and I ensure we get the most out of each and every session to cross train for your sport.

As a Pilates instructor, this career path allows me to combine my passion for movement and group fitness, (from years of dancing), along with my interest in the human body (from my ongoing education in kinesiology). I truly believe that this is where I am meant to be, and I am grateful for the opportunities that this career has brought me.

In my spare time, you might find me rehearsing for my next performance, working closely with Balanced Body Pilates on filming projects, snuggled up with my animals, or exploring some corner of the world with my husband.

Hi, I’m Ashley celaya dow.
Owner & founder of East cape pilates.

about The studio

Our boutique styled studio is fully furnished with brand new Balanced Body equipment.

With reformer/tower combos, all group classes at the studio have an intimate and personal feel combined with the vibes of a supportive community!

Private sessions not only use the reformers and towers, but also have access to using other Balanced Body equipment like the Ladder Barrel, Pilates Chair, Core Align and a TRX suspension system.

In all classes and sessions, Ashley’s teaching style is classically inspired, honoring the work as Joe Pilates originally intended, while also recognizing some bodies might need more of a contemporary and rehabilitative approach.
